This is a two-piece drawer box. A printed outer sleeve holds an inner tray that slides out like a matchbox, giving a slow, clean reveal of the product inside. It is built on E or B flute corrugated, so it feels rigid and presents like a gift box while weighing and costing less than a solid greyboard setup box. It suits retail products, gift sets, electronics, and subscription items where the open is part of the experience.

The slide-out reveal
The drawer action is the reason to choose this style. The tray slides from the sleeve in one motion, which holds the product in place until the customer pulls it fully open, so the reveal feels deliberate rather than a lid lifted off. A die-cut thumb notch or a ribbon pull starts the slide, and a fitted insert keeps the contents centered and facing the right way when the drawer opens. It ships flat to save freight and sets up by hand.
Corrugated drawer, lighter than a rigid box
Corrugated gives the premium feel without the rigid-box cost. E-flute laminated with a printed sheet looks and handles like a setup box but weighs less, which lowers both the board cost and the parcel postage, and it absorbs transit shock better than thin solid board. For larger or heavier sets, B-flute or an E/B double-wall adds rigidity and stacking strength. We set the flute from the product weight and how it ships, then confirm it with in-house compression and burst checks.
Print and finish for the surface
The surface is where this box earns its place, so the finish gets the attention. We print by litho-lamination for full-color photographic quality, managed to G7 with X-Rite measurement and a signed contract proof so color holds across reorders. Dark or solid sleeve designs take anti-scratch matte film, which stops the grey scuffing that bare dark panels pick up in handling. Soft-touch, spot UV, foil stamping, and emboss are available, and when foil and emboss sit on the same area we cut a single combination die so the two register in one hit. A flat brand color that must stay exact reorder to reorder is best set as a spot rather than a four-color build.
Inserts that hold the product
The insert turns the drawer into a fitted seat. A die-cut paper tray, EPE foam nest, or fabric-wrapped insert holds the product centered and stops it sliding when the drawer opens and closes. For finish-sensitive items, soft insert surfaces sit against the product so coated or polished parts do not scuff. Our structural team designs the cavity to your exact item, and we send a sample before the run.
Eco and ordering
The structure is corrugated and recyclable in the paper stream. Anti-scratch matte and soft-touch are film laminations, so where a fully repulpable spec is required we can review an aqueous matte coating against your destination market rules. FSC-certified board and recycled content are available on request. To quote, send your product dimensions, target quantity, artwork, and finish intent, and we return an engineered dieline, a recommended spec, and a price. We can ship a blank structural sample or a printed digital proof before the run. There is no strict minimum, though unit cost drops with volume. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, FSC chain of custody, G7, and GMI are on file.
FAQ
Does it ship flat or set up?
It ships flat to cut freight and sets up by hand, with the sleeve and drawer folding to shape in seconds. If you prefer fully assembled delivery for a co-pack line, we can quote that instead.
Can you design an insert to hold my product?
Yes. Structural design is in-house. Send the dimensions and weight of the product, or a sample, and we return a fitted paper or EPE insert and a physical sample before you commit to a run.
What order quantity makes sense?
There is no strict minimum, but litho-lamination plates and setup spread over the run, so small batches carry a higher unit cost and the price falls with volume. Tell us your launch quantity and reorder forecast and we will advise on the break points.
Will a dark printed sleeve scuff in transit?
Bare dark solids do scuff grey, which is why we put anti-scratch matte film on dark designs. It holds the rich look and resists the marks that handling leaves on an uncoated dark panel.
Do you handle international shipping?
Yes. We export under standard Incoterms such as FOB and CIF, and because the box ships flat we advise on carton and pallet fit so the order lands at a sensible cost.
