The EPE foam egg tray is a soft, resilient polyethylene foam liner that seats each egg in a fitted star pocket, so eggs ride without cracking through handling, transport, and last-mile delivery. As an egg tray liner it drops into a carton or gift box for shockproof egg packaging, and the closed-cell foam cushions every knock without shedding lint onto the shells.

Cavities sized to the egg

Each star pocket is cut to the egg so it sits deep and square with no room to roll or knock its neighbour. Tell us the egg grade and the count you pack, 6, 10, 12, 20, or 30, and the cavity diameter, depth, and pitch are set to match. The same tool holds oval or round produce, so one liner can carry eggs on one run and fruit on the next.

EPE foam vs pulp egg trays

Pulp trays are cheap and stackable but soak up moisture and soften in damp or chilled transit, and they cushion less. An EPE cushioned egg carton insert stays dry, springs back after a drop, and can be washed and reused, so it protects far better on long-haul and courier routes. For a premium gift box of eggs or fruit, the clean white foam also presents better than grey pulp.

Why EPE foam

EPE is an expanded polyethylene foam that is soft, resilient, and recovers after impact, so egg transport foam absorbs the drops and vibration that crack shells in the post. It is water-resistant and does not shed dust or lint onto food, and the inert PE is safe against the shell. The foam is light, so it protects the eggs without adding much to the parcel weight.

Applications

Use the tray for farm and retail eggs, preserved and salted eggs, hatching eggs, and duck or goose eggs, plus round fruit like peaches, kiwis, apples, and avocados. The deep pockets hold each item, the shockproof egg packaging survives courier handling, and the reusable foam suits farm-gate delivery, e-commerce, and premium gift sets alike.

Get a quote

Send your egg or fruit size, the count per tray, and the carton or box it sits in, and we will cut a dieline and quote the liner with a sample for your approval. ISO 9001 and 14001 systems keep density, pocket depth, and cut size consistent lot to lot, so every tray protects the same.

FAQ

How many eggs can one tray hold? The tray shown holds ten, but the count is made to order, from 6 up to 30 or more per layer, and layers can be stacked in a carton. Give us the egg grade and how many you pack per box and we set the cavity count, size, and pitch to fit.

Is it better than a pulp egg tray? For cushioning and damp routes, yes. EPE springs back after a drop, stays dry, and can be reused, while pulp softens when wet and cushions less. Pulp is cheaper and stackable for dry retail. Tell us the route and use and we advise which fits, or supply both.

Is the foam safe against the shell? Yes. It is made from inert, food-safe PE foam that does not shed lint or transfer onto the shell, and it is water-resistant so it wipes clean and can be reused. For extra assurance we can supply a food-contact grade to your market's standard.

What is a realistic order quantity? There is no strict minimum, but the forming tool and setup spread over the run, so small batches cost more per piece and price drops with volume. Tell us your annual volume and we advise the break points.
